Storytime--Bunnies!

And the animal theme continues, this week being bunnies! I had a smallish group today (one daycare and a couple of single-child families), but the daycare being comprised primarily of toddlers made for an exciting storytime. I did my best and we made it out alive, that's all I can say!

Books:

Ribbit Rabbit by Mike Lowery
Milo the Really Big Bunny by Stephen Krensky
Moon Rabbit by Natalie Russell
Bunny Money by Rosemary Wells

Fingerplay

 “Little Bunny”

There was a little bunny who lived in the wood. (hold up two fingers)
He wiggled his ears as a good bunny should (wiggle on head)
He hopped by a squirrel. He hopped by a tree. (hop, hop)
He hopped by a duck. And he hopped by me. (hop, hop over fist)
He stared at the squirrel. He stared at the tree. (stare, stare)
He stared at the duck. But he made faces at me! (stare, make faces)

Flannelboard:

I used my Easter Bunny flannelboard game from my Easter storytime. It was so nice to be able to re-use one, it feels like I'm getting somewhere!

Action Activity

"Bunny Pokey"

You put your bunny ears in...your bunny nose...bunny tail...bunny paws...your bunny self...and shake them all about. You do the bunny pokey and you hop yourself around. That's what it's all about.

Craft:

Bunny Puppets

Very easy: find a bunny outline, print and cut it out, color the bunny, glue the tail on (cotton ball), glue the stick on and voila!
