This one went really well. This was the first time I've really gotten a fingerplay to work well, so I was very happy. The kids really enjoyed There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Clover, and they also enjoyed The Story of the Leprechaun. The other two were OK. Both the flannelboards went over great; I'm glad I decided to do both! The kids liked the craft as well, and there was a lot of munching going on (by me mostly, but the kids too haha!)
Books:
Good Luck Bear by Greg Foley
The Story of the Leprechaun by Katherine Tegen
Fancy Nancy: Just My Luck! by Jane O'Connor
There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover by Lucille Colandro

Hiding in the hay (hide pointer finger under opposite hand)

Don’t you run away! (hop pointer finger around)

Let’s go out and play (hop both pointer fingers together)

It’s St. Patrick’s Day! (move pointer fingers up and down)
Flannelboard:
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have a red heart here with me.
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have an orange star here with me.
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have a yellow moon here with me.
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have a green clover here with me.
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have a blue diamond here with me.
Leprechaun, leprechaun
What do you see?
I have a purple horse shoe here with me.
Let’s see what colors we have – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
What does that make?
A Rainbow!
And what can you find at the end of the rainbow?
Leprechaun’s pot of gold!
Flannelboard #2
Before you start this flannelboard, hide the gold behind one of the colored pots
Leprechaun knows he has some gold, but he has so many different pots, he doesn’t know where it is! Let’s see if we can help him find it!
Leprechaun, leprechaun, tiny and bold.
Where, oh where is your gold?
What does the _(color)_ pot hold?
