Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "oh my it's getting late."
The second one said, "there are witches in the air."
The third one said, "but we don't care!"
The fourth one said, "let's run and run and run."
The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"
OOOhh OOOhh went the wind
And out went the lights
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

Storytime--Monsters

This storytime was fun! The kids really enjoyed the books, but if I had to choose a favorite I would say Big Bad Bubble by a very slim margin. The craft was very easy--I just took all the old scraps from previous projects and let the kids go to town. It was an extremely successful craft too, which surprised me considering I did pretty much no work for it!

Books:

My Friend the Weather Monster by Steve Smallman and Bruno Merz
Big Bad Bubble by Adam Rubin
The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone
Go To Bed Monster by Natasha Wing

Fingerplay:

If you want to be a monster, now’s your chance.
‘Cause everybody’s doing the monster dance.
You just stamp your feet, wave your arms around. (Stomp, wave arms.)
Stretch ‘em up, stretch ‘em up, (Stretch up arms.)
Then put them on the ground. (Put hands on the floor.)
‘Cause you’re doing the monster stomp. (Stomp feet.)
That’s right! You’re doing the monster stomp. (Stomp feet.)

Flannelboard:

5 little monsters jumping on the bed
1 fell off and bumped his head!
The momma called the doctor and the doctor said:
"No more monsters jumping on the bed!"

Action Activity:

Monster, monster, turn around.
Monster, monster, touch the ground.
Monster, monster, reach up high.
Monster, monster, squint your eyes.
Monster, monster, show your teeth.
Monster, monster, stamp your feet.
Monster, monster, turn around.
Monster, monster, please sit down

Way up high in the apple tree,  (Point up high)
Five red apples looked at me.  (Hold up five fingers)
I shook that tree as hard as I could,  (Pretend to shake the tree with both hands)
Down came an apple,  (Wiggle fingers down from the air)
Mmmm, it was good. (Rub tummy!)
Flannelboard:

Five little apples hung in a tree
The farmer wasn’t looking
Guess who came to eat?
A monkey! Munch, munch, munch!
Action Activity:

Plant a seed
Water the seed
Your tree grows high!
Climb the tree
Grab your apple
Take a big bite!
